Kathy Crinion-"Voice of the Century"(Charlie McGettigan)
In the space of 24 months County Meath's Kathy Crinion has shot to national and international notoriety reaching airplay charts around the world. Her breakout single "I'm Just Not that Lonely Anymore" written for her by Nashville based Grammy winner Wood Newton and his co-writer Norwegian Tore Andersen(RIP) has established the Trim based singer/songwriter at the very heart of the Irish Country scene. Plaudits have rained in and TV, radio and print media have taken to that velvet smooth vocal tone with substantial airplay on RTE Radio as well as BBC. Kathy reached No 7 in the US Indie Airplay charts earlier in the year and her material has proven popular as far away as Auckland New Zealand and Tokyo Japan. Kathy Crinion worked as singer in local bands for many years and was a much sought after studio backing vocalist but put her blossoming career on hold to raise her family. Kathy even performed at a private concert for the late Princess Margaret (her Uncle Roger Johnstone was Lord Mayor of Liverpool) alongside her varied career outside of music which also included writing children’s school text books.
Kathy's time is clearly nigh and her videos have now been viewed by tens of thousands on the internet and are regularly featured on various shows on Irish TV. Now also a fully-fledged C.M.T. Artist. 2015 was also a double award winning year with the title "Female Vocalist of the Year" bestowed on her at the recent Leinster Entertainment Award show in Kildare. The Farmers Journal Country Sound Award was also garnered at a thronged Hodson Bay Hotel in March. Kathy’s summer of 2015 was capped off by being the “People’s Choice” nominee as Best Female at the Irish TV Country Music Awards broadcast globally in August of that year.
The release of Kathy’s debut album “Lovin What I Do” on the new ISGR label distributed through Sony/Universal was produced by Pete Ware (Charlie Landsborough) in U.K. and Spain and tracked under musical direction of Danny Parks at his studios in Nashville. The collection saw Kathy's own compositions falling into place with original material from Pat Alger (5 number 1s for Garth Brooks) and Grammy nominee Jan Buckingham, as well as further offerings from Wood Newton. The album proved to be a landmark opus for an Irish female Country artist attaining the coveted “Album of the Week” on RTE Radio 1 as well as tracks being play listed there and on the BBC.The album thus far has now achieved 5 number ones on the Irish iTunes listings with four tracks being play listed by RTE Radio 1.
Kathy was again nominated as “Best Female” in the 2016 Irish TV Country Music Awards in May performing on the show with her touring partner Mary Duff. Her single Rock n Roll Banjo was awarded Hotdisc Best Single UK/Ireland 2016 voted by 750 radio DJs worldwide.
Kathy performed at The Bluebird Café Nashville March 16th 2017 and headlined King John’s Summer Prom at Trim Castle County Meath with a 40 piece orchestra 21st July 2017.
